Selling on credit is normal in phone shops: one customer takes a charger and a case, another takes a phone and pays in instalments. The problem isn't the credit, it's the notebook. A torn page, a wrong number, and a customer saying "I already paid" while you're not sure.

This post explains how Mobilat's customers and credit feature works in a shop: what the cashier sees, what you see, and where it stops.

Every customer has an account

Each customer has an account showing what they bought on credit, when they paid and what's left. The cashier finds customers by name or phone, and every customer has a purchase history.

One rule matters: a credit sale must be on a named customer. No credit for an unknown person, which protects you from losing money.

Steps for a credit sale

  1. Open the POS and scan with the phone camera, or search by name.
  2. Pick the customer.
  3. Pick the payment. You can split the sale: part cash, part Vodafone Cash, the rest on credit.
  4. The cashier sees how much room the customer has left before selling.
  5. Confirm. Cash goes to the drawer, the wallet part to its balance, and credit to the customer's account.

The credit limit

Set a limit per customer. When it's reached, credit sales stop. When the customer pays, the room opens up again. So nobody quietly builds up a big debt.

Collecting payments

Customers can pay in cash or by any wallet, and the payment goes onto their account. You can send a clear statement, line by line. That ends the "I already paid" argument, because every payment is recorded with its date.

Who is late, and since when

The aging report groups debts by age. Tap a customer to open their statement. Start collecting with the oldest and biggest, instead of trusting your memory.

Mistakes and returns

  • Balances can't be edited. They are computed from entries.
  • Any correction is a reversal under the name of whoever made it.
  • If a customer returns something bought on credit, the account adjusts automatically.

That means nobody, cashier included, can change a number behind your back.

Limits

  • Mobilat records and organizes the account, but collecting is still your job: calling and reminding.
  • You set the limit per customer yourself; there's no automatic limit.
  • The report shows ageing, but whether to stop selling to a late customer is your decision.
